He Loves Us

Last night, I had an interesting "Oooohhh....." moment as I was reading my scriptures. Often, I have wondered at the miracle of prayer. I have wondered, too, how the whole "asking and receiving" thing works. It has often seemed to me that whe you ask for something, He will give it to you if that was in the plan anyway. Otherwise, you will get a lesson on how God's ways are not your ways, etc.

But think of this: How do you know when someone loves you? Well, what peaks most sincerely to me are the things that people do for me--the little acts of service they didn't need to do; the times they did something with Gwen in mind. The Lord, also, does these things for us, but I think that we frequently take these little things for granted. It's like a child who never has to ask their parents to do anything, because everything is already done. It's like clean laundry or a plate of food--it just magically gets taken care of.

So, I think Heavenly Father wants us to ask him for things so we can literally see that He loves us. When we ask, and receive, we see the direct correlation between what we wanted from Him, and what was given. There's a good chance we would have gotten it anyway, but he wants us to know it's not magic; its Him.

Mallie is walking

Mallie is walking around pretty good these days. A week ago I was excited that she was going to get to show off her new wobbly stance at Thanksgiving, now I'm thinking she'll be running around. (Well, not quite.) They sure do learn fast, but I guess I would too if I got to practice one thing everyday all day.
I'll post a video tomorrow.

The Temple & Olivia's Woes

We had a big night last night! Ben and I got to the OKC Temple for the first time. It's a small temple like Columbia, but it's backwards. So when you walk in, the baptistry is on the left, and the women go into the men's dressing room. Or at least, it feels like it :) The furniture is different, but otherwise it's about the same as Columbia. It was nice to be back.

But while we were there, my neighbors, Amber & Danni, were watching our kids. Connor did pretty well for his first time with a real babysitter. He even took the bottle. Eventually. But Olivia threw up. Twice. And for the rest of the night. She was up every hour and a half or so until about 4:30 this morning. It was a long night. This morning she woke up about 9:00, but she has a temp of about 101 and her ears are hurting really bad. So it's off to the doctor for us! I'm hoping her vomiting was due to a double-ear infection or something like that, rather than something contagious. Wish us luck!

say cheese

Well, we have all enjoyed our second round of dentist visits for the year this past week. I am so pround of my little family and all their cavity-less teeth. They are all thanking me though, for taking care of everyones share of the rot. We don't like to equally divide things around here, no, can anyone say "SIX"? That's right folks, "Julie" and "six" and "cavities" are three words that go together as we approach the holiday season this year. Thank heavens for composite.

Wheee!!

Off on a new ride. I suppose I was going to have to jump on the bloggers ride eventually. Haha.
